A morning with Bomunsan leaves and trees. It was fall there, finally. And so welcomed by me and welcoming to me. We climbed the log steps breaking through yellow trees and little groups of amber and wine-colored trees. At the top, in the pagoda, with the view round about, the lovely mountains seemed to be swallowing up that ugly city. And even the city itself looked interesting and kind of remarkable from that distance and that perspective. And the air was clean and fresh, and we all took gasping breaths, trying to clean out our lungs and revive our bodies. Green showers, they call them, these hikes. A time to use the special powers of the trees to fight off illness and disease and instability. A time to cough out the city and take in the breath of the trees.
